G. F. Handel’s Messiah was written in late summer of 1741. The Baroque-era oratorio still awes listeners more than 250 years after that 1st performance. Defiance community singers have been performing Messiah for 49 years at St. John United Church of Christ and 2023 marks the 50th Performance! The chorus is accompanied by a chamber orchestra led by Defiance native, Dr. Andrew Schultz.

Admission is free and the event is open to the public. Doors open at 6:15pm. Seating is limited and audience members are encouraged to arrive early.
